Turkish plane carrying 11 passengers crashes

A Turkish private jet flying from UAE to Istanbul has reportedly crashed on Iran’s Shahr-e Kord mountains and bursts into flames, authorities say.

Rescue operatives believe that all 11 passengers aboard the Canadian-made Bombardier CL604 aircraft may be dead.

According to Reza Jafarzade of Iran’s state-run Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), the aircraft reportedly burst into flames near Shahr-e Kord city, about 370km south of the capital, Tehran.

“We can confirm that a Turkish private jet … while passing through our airspace disappeared from the radar and crashed near Shahr-e Kord,” Jafarzadeh said.

Iranian emergency management officials described all eight passengers as being young women, and the three crew members.
